Picture this; it’s late Friday night and your driving down the street on your way home from a long days work, about 3 blocks from home you pull up to the last stop light and think about how nice it’s going to feel crawling into your bed and getting a good nights sleep. The light turns green you move forward and you get a slight smile on your face thinking “in 20 minutes I will be sleeping next to my wife, the children will be safe in their bed and the crazy little dog my wife got will be curled up at her feet and all will be right with the wor”. This thought was never finished because a drunken driver ran the red light and smashed into your door, you never finished the thought because you didn’t have time because your head went through the window and into the grill of a 2010 ¾ ton Dodge.
Now here is the question you may have never asked yourself or been asked by others, are you going to heaven or are you going to hell?
You may or may not believe this but we are all going to spend eternity someplace, me I will be in heaven with my creator and His son Jesus. Now if you don’t believe this it is your choice, but just humor me and pretend that I am right and there is a heaven and a hell and when we die we will spend the rest of eternity in one or the other. Heaven is said to be the abode of God and those who have been saved will spend eternity in the loving embrace of our Father. Hell on the other hand is described in the dictionary as: The abode of condemned souls and devils in some religions; the place of eternal punishment for the wicked after death, presided over by Satan. A state of separation from God; exclusion from God’s presence….
Now this may be a bit of a read and if you don’t read it then you either know where you will spend eternity or don’t believe and think this is B.S., either way take the time and if not now come back and read it later you may be surprised I know that I was. You see I believed in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and always thought that I wasn’t as bad as some but the thing about it is the badder I got the worse the people were that I would compare myself to until I just didn’t care anymore.
I lived my life for 40+ years thinking I was either good enough to go to heaven or not bad enough to deserve hell. Boy howdy was I wrong, I said I believed in the bible but never once did I read it, until I was saved and I will use that term born again, because that is so true. That was my rebirth day and a day that will hold sway over the remainder of my life, for now I can say with authority that I will one day be in heaven and it is not because of anything that I did but by the grace of God and the blood of His son Jesus. You see none of us can do anything to deserve salvation because it isn’t something we can earn, I don’t care who or what you are you can’t earn it nor do you deserve it but it is there for any and all who asks for it.
Remember how I said I wasn’t saved until in my mid 40’s, that I wasn’t really that bad, well that wasn’t entirely true because I started dancing with the devil early on and I was kind of liking it, but we won’t go there, I just told you that so that this next part would sink in. I used to look for ways to deaden the pain of life so I remember (was told about) times that my self centeredness’ could have taken the lives of many innocents whether adult, teenage or child I never even thought about it for I was intoxicated on alcohol, drugs or even both, sometimes anger is even intoxicating to the point you don’t think of the consequences of your actions. Anyway how many cars did I pass with family’s in them, one slight jerk on the wheel and their lives could have been forfeited. Or how many trees, poles, even cliffs, did I venture toward but not hit which could have ended my life and sentenced me to everlasting damnation.
Satan is real and hell is real and he is the prince of this earth and none will get out of life alive, death awaits us all and in the end where do you want to spend eternity, where do you think you will spend it? Remember this, that God and sin can’t co-exist and we are all born in sin and can’t change that, even if we could there isn’t one amongst us layman, priest or preacher who hasn’t sinned at one time or another and once sin has entered our lives we can no longer share in the rewards of heaven. So if you want to change where you are destined to go, because we are all destined for damnation, then you need to choose who you want to follow – the ways of this world or the ways of our Savoir and to do this it is just a decision.
Now when you make this decision and if you choose salvation then know this; no matter how bad you have been, or what you have done there is no sin that won’t be forgiven – I mean none. It doesn’t matter what your friends, family, children, spouse, co-worker etc. has to say about this, they can’t choose for you nor can they decide what you deserve. For I will tell you right now, none of us deserve it but as I said before, we can all have it.
Think about this, if you say you don’t believe, that was a decision in favor of hell.
